Today we held our FINAL Data Meetup of 2020!
It was a little bit of a learning curve transitioning from in-person Meetups to virtual back in March, but as with the rest of the world, we adapted and were able to hold 12 successful Data Meetups this year. Our team at Continuus wants to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended any of our Meetups throughout the year.
Additionally, I would like to extend a special thanks to all of my Continuus colleagues that joined in the conversations throughout the year. Our team is really passionate about data and loves to talk about all facets of data and analytics, which was the catalyst behind starting these Meetups in the first place back in the spring of 2019. These Meetups would never be able to happen without their insight and expertise, and we hope everyone who was able to join us learned something!
Today’s topics included holiday related data visualizations, advice for folks who are currently going through an analytics bootcamp or similar coursework, comparing spreadsheet analytics to visual analytics and how to present both, how to choose the best chart format for a dataset, and the importance of design in presenting data. We also closed out our year of Data Meetups with a reflection on everyone’s favorite, most challenging, and/or most rewards data projects that they worked on (or are currently working on this year).
Here are a list of resources that were discussed and shared today:
- Kaggle: Machine learning and data science learning resource
- Thanksgiving recipe data visualization
- Can You Guess the Christmas Song data visualization
- Holiday Spending 2019 data visualization
