A data strategy is a coherent, long-term plan comprised of standards and decisions. When the needs of such a strategy are identified and designed accurately and the implementation is completed successfully, it can help organizations achieve high-level data and analytic goals.

Benefits of a Successful Data Strategy Implementation

  • Enables the organization to proceed with offensive (profitability / customer satisfaction) and defensive (minimizing risk) business objectives
  • Improves the ability to make better, more informed business decisions
  • Provides insight of data landscape and challenges when it comes to barriers of entry and innovation
  • Reinforces the effective planning and utilization of data products and analytic programs
  • Identifies parameters and mediums for appropriate data accessibility and consumption and identifies who does what with the organization’s data

Though it may not be formalized or clearly defined, many organizations unknowingly operate today with some form of a data strategy or at least components of one.
